Description
Join the Mason Area Historical Society at their monthly meeting on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mason Area Historical Museum, 200 E. Ash Street in Mason. Author Rod Sadler will share stories that are the subjects of his first two books. The books contain sensational true crime stories with ties to the Mason area and mid-Michigan. Copies of the books will be available for purchase after the meeting’s program.
Rod Sadler’s first book, “To Hell I must Go,” is a true story of a deranged woman who some might refer to as Michigan's own Lizzie Borden. Here is the book’s synopsis: Alfred Haney had suspected there was something peculiar about his young wife for a very long time. The conversations she had with no one visible had become more and more frequent. On a cool spring morning in 1897, he left his Williamston, Michigan home to earn his day's wage. When he returned, he discovered a macabre murder so bizarre that it shook an entire community to its core.
His second book, “A Slayer Waits,” depicts a double murder as an act of desperation. An escaped convict slays an unsuspecting mid-Michigan farm couple in cold blood before continuing his escape. Months later, the killer is re-captured and returned to a Michigan prison—thus beginning a long, painful saga of legal battles.
The meeting and program is free and open to the public and will be held in the 90-seat Virginia Schlichter Auditorium inside the Mason Area Historical Museum at 200 E. Oak Street at the southeast corner of E. Oak and S. Barnes streets in Mason.
While there is no admission fee, the Mason Area Historical Society is a non-profit organization that is dependent upon memberships and donations. They ask you to please consider donating to allow events like this to continue to be offered in the future.
